I was in two minds about riding today, but the beautiful weather finally persuaded me! 馃榿. So after getting everything ready I left just past 3pm. This was another long ride of about 4.5 hours and 32 miles. There was plenty of daylight time to get back.
The outbound leg of my ride took me along the Worth Way. Eight miles to East Grinstead, where I passed under the viaduct to begin my quest to visit three lakes on this ride.
Along the way, I passed an old ruin. Brambletye House. This was built in 1631 by Henry Compton. After he left in late 17th century, the house remained empty, falling into disrepair and eventually abandoned altogether. A sad tale. My picture shows all that now remains of what must have been a magnificent building.
So, the first lake was Weir Wood Reservoir. Not far from Brambletye House.
Next was Ardingly Reservoir, but only after several miles of tough riding in this hilly area. There are some terrific tracks connecting these two lakes.
Lastly comes Tilgate Lake. I very often visit this Lake as a stop off before heading home. Being a Sunday, it was busy with families enjoying the warm sunshine.
My legs were now tired 馃槴. It was getting late and the sun was low. Another fine afternoon riding in this late spring sunny weather.
