Tilgate Park was my destination for a cycle ride this evening.
But before that, a spell of shopping in the morning, followed by some chores and preparation of a chicken casserole for dinner.
After I took my wife to work, that was an opportunity to get out for a while on my mountain bike.
This is a plan of Tilgate Park. It has two main lakes surrounded by various areas of natural beauty, forest walks, azalea gardens. A nature center with various animals too.
The main picture shows a memorial area with plaques.
There are many pathways around the park, I couldn't fit in all of them here but I visited the Peace Garden.
Next stop was the lakes. The smaller one is Silt Lake.
The main lake is used for boating and other activities. But this evening it was very quiet. Quite perfect for cycling, cool and overcast.
I will come back again to cover more areas another time. There is much to see here. A motorway bisects the forest and two narrow bridges connect the two parts for access. A mountain bike paradise!
