Varias veces he incluido en los post que escribo sobre lugares y personas de mi pueblo, a la parroquia de San Joaquín. Casi siempre anudando esta construcción a esos relatos, pero no tan directamente como pretendo hacerlo ahora.

Hello to everyone here in this architectural community.

Several times I have included in the posts I write about places and people of my town, the parish of San Joaquin. Almost always knotting this construction to those stories, but not as directly as I intend to do now.

La vista impresionante de esta construcción, que se muestra altanera y dominante desde su propia altura a la cuesta de una breve colina, en el centro del pueblo estalla siempre diferente ante mis ojos. Es como un retrato al que a cada instante se pinta un nuevo fondo y se maquilla con nuevos tonos de luz.

The impressive view of this building, which appears haughty and dominant from its own height on the slope of a short hill, in the center of the village bursts always different before my eyes. It is like a portrait to which at every instant a new background is painted and made up with new shades of light.

Esta construcción comenzó siendo allá en el siglo diecisiete una Ermita de tabla y guano dónde los primeros pobladores adoraban a sus santos, ya en el siglo XIX se erige en su cuerpo de mampostería, encumbrada con maderas preciosas bien pulidas y techo a dos aguas.

Como Parroquia, fue ordenada su construcción por Doña Juana Romero, la benefactora que donó las tierras para la fundación del poblado del entonces San Luis de los Pinos.

This construction began being back in the seventeenth century a hermitage of board and guano where the first settlers worshiped their saints, and in the nineteenth century was erected in its body of masonry, topped with polished precious woods and gabled roof.

As a parish church, its construction was ordered by Doña Juana Romero, the benefactress who donated the land for the foundation of the town of San Luis de los Pinos.

Hermoso recinto espiritual de paredes fuertes y anchas de mampostería, elegantemente repelladas y con altos ventanales balaustrados por donde entra la luz matinal a chorros por el Este y los cálidos y estridentes rayos del tropical Sol de la tarde por el Oeste. Producto de un barroco americano tardío con algún elemento del neoclásico también readaptado en la Isla.

Beautiful spiritual enclosure of strong and wide masonry walls, elegantly plastered and with high balustraded windows through which the morning light streams in from the east and the warm and strident rays of the tropical afternoon sun from the west. Product of a late American baroque with some elements of neoclassical also readapted in the island.

Originalmente, contó con la nave central y un campanario por encima del nivel del techo rematado por una cúpula sobre cuatro migrantes de arquillos de medio punto, y adornada con una cruz estilizada de metal en la parte superior.

Posteriormente, en una primera reconstrucción, se le adicionó la cripta y la vivienda para el oficiante de turno.

Originally, it had a central nave and a bell tower above the roof level topped by a dome over four migrants of semicircular arches, and adorned with a stylized metal cross at the top.

Later, in a first reconstruction, the crypt and the dwelling for the officiant on duty were added.

He visitado este lugar con la mirada escrutadora del reportero y he evacuado la duda de saber por qué se le nombra desde 1835, Parroquia de ingreso. Con la simple respuesta de qué a partir de esa fecha recaudaba, además del diezmo, por otros servicios religiosos y sociales.

También en esa primera reconstrucción, o más bien ampliación, se eliminó la escalinata que descendía hasta la misma calle en la plaza de armas, y se adicionó el entorno de muros, rampas y escalinatas con que hoy todavía se puede observar.

Also in that first reconstruction, or rather expansion, the stairway that descended to the same street in the main square was eliminated, and the walls, ramps and stairs that can still be seen today were added.

De ese empeño también resultó las falsas columnas en la puerta principal que mira permanentemente hacia el sur, y la del lateral que se abre al Este. Estás dios puertas, por supuesto, de estilo españolizante.

This effort also resulted in the false columns on the main door that permanently faces south, and the one on the side that opens to the east. These doors are, of course, in the Spanish style.

El color de la también llamada "Iglesia"y más conocida por ese nombre, cambia según el Padre que esté rigiendo la vida espiritual de los feligreses y de los recursos que en cada momento están a disposición de la institución religiosa.

The color of the also called "Church" and better known by that name, changes according to the Father who is governing the spiritual life of the parishioners and the resources that are available to the religious institution at any given moment.

El templo está consagrado a San Joaquín, que en la liturgia católica es esposo de Santa Ana, padre de María y por supuesto el abuelo de Jesús de Nazaret

La fiesta patronal se celebraba el dieciséis de agosto y posteriormente el 26 de julio, día de Santa Ana.

The temple is consecrated to Saint Joaquin, who in the Catholic liturgy is the husband of Saint Anne, father of Mary and of course the grandfather of Jesus of Nazareth.

The patronal feast was celebrated on August 16th and later on July 26th, St. Anne's Day.

Por el exterior está joya arquitectónica, la más grande de las Parroquias de la provincia de Pintar del Río. Impacta contra el cielo que le sirve de fondo en su modo cambiante.

On the outside is an architectural jewel, the largest of the parishes of the province of Pintar del Rio. It impacts against the sky that serves as background in its changing mode.

Pero por dentro el ambiente acogedor y la perfecta conservación de la mueblería, las poderosas vigas y entablado del techo. Y la mesurada decoración de las paredes con pequeños cuadros del Vía Crucis, y conservadas pinturas al óleo, encargadas a la Academia de San Alejandro, hacen del lugar un acogedor espacio para la reflexión y la meditación.

But inside the cozy atmosphere and the perfect preservation of the furniture, the powerful beams and ceiling boarding. And the measured decoration of the walls with small pictures of the Stations of the Cross, and preserved oil paintings, commissioned to the Academy of San Alejandro, make the place a cozy space for reflection and meditation.

El templo consagrado a San Joaquim, Santo y patrono del municipio, tiene premio de conservación y propuesta a construcción patrimonial en la provincia.

Ubicada en el mismo centro del poblado cabecera, esta poderosa instalación, ve desde su lugar privilegiado el de cursar de la vida de los habitantes de este pueblo.

The temple consecrated to San Joaquim, Saint and patron saint of the municipality, has a conservation award and is proposed as a patrimonial construction in the province.

Located in the very center of the head town, this powerful installation, sees from its privileged place the course of the life of the inhabitants of this town.
