Desde la primera audición los tres niños solamente tenían una semana para prepararse, sin embargo, esa semana pasó muy rápido, donde Charlie pasó muchas horas repitiendo partituras con su banjo, Lucas buscaba nuevas ideas y Sofía tenía que trabajar en algunos detalles de su voz para así lograr que se escuchara perfecta. En esa semana hubo estrés, cansancio, pero tenían presente que 59 participantes también tenían el mismo tiempo para prepararse, por eso era una gran responsabilidad y no había tiempo para cometer errores.
Finalmente, llegó el día de la segunda la audición y desde muy temprano los tres niños se marcharon hacia el lugar y durante el camino no hablaron, donde Charlie llevaba su banjo con mucho cuidado, mientras Lucas y Sofía veían el paisaje. Minutos después llegaron y se quedaron sorprendidos por la cantidad de personas, ya que cada participante estaba acompañado por sus familiares, además el lugar parecía mucho más grande que en la primera ronda. Los tres niños se miraron y comprendieron que solamente era 60 audiciones y solo muy pocos iban a poder conseguir avanzar.
From the first audition, the three children had only one week to prepare; however, that week went by very quickly. During that time, Charlie spent many hours practicing the music on his banjo, Lucas was looking for new ideas, and Sofía had to work on some details of her voice to make sure it sounded perfect. That week was filled with stress and exhaustion, but they kept in mind that the 59 other participants also had the same amount of time to prepare, so it was a huge responsibility and there was no room for error.
Finally, the day of the second audition arrived, and very early in the morning, the three children set off for the venue. They didn’t speak on the way there; Charlie carried his banjo very carefully, while Lucas and Sofía looked out at the scenery. Minutes later, they arrived and were surprised by the number of people, since each participant was accompanied by family members, and the venue seemed much larger than in the first round. The three children looked at each other and realized that there were 60 auditions, and only a very few would be able to move on.
Tomaron su respectivo puesto donde todos esperaban y poco a poco iban siendo llamados uno por uno, ya que la dinámica era igual subir al escenario, hacer la presentación y que el jurado tomara sus anotaciones, para luego saber si habías conseguido avanzar. En ese momento Lucas comentó —Esto es mucho más difícil que la primera vez— Sofia estaba de acuerdo y Charlie simplemente se quedó en silencio, con su banjo listo, a pesa de tener nervios, tenía que ser fuerte y concentrarse en todo lo que había ensayado.
Entonces los tres niños escucharon sus nombres y los tres quedaron sorprendidos, ya que era su turno de presentarse, pero por unos segundos ninguno se movió, hasta que Charlie miró a sus amigos y dijo —Vamos, para eso nos preparamos toda la semana— así que los tres niños comenzaron hacia la tarima, donde había nervios, emoción y en ese momento Charlie recordó a su abuelo, sus primeros errores y todas las veces que quiso rendirse porque pensaba que nunca conseguiría hacerlo bien. Además, Lucas también recordó todos los ensayos y Sofía recordó cada detalle que había preparado para que aquel espectáculo tuviera algo especial.
Los tres niños se subieron sobre la tarima y notaron algo de público, muchas luces y los jurados ya ocupaban sus lugares. Charlie miró su banjo y luego miró a Lucas y Sofía, donde sonrieron y ahora los tres niños tenían que enfrentar ese gran desafío, donde todos estaban esperando por ellos y la semana de preparación estaba lista para ser demostrada en estas segundas adiciones.
They took their respective places where everyone was waiting, and little by little they were called up one by one. The process was always the same: go up on stage, give their performance, let the judges take notes, and then find out if they’d made it to the next round. At that moment, Lucas remarked, “This is much harder than the first time.” Sofia agreed, and Charlie simply remained silent, his banjo at the ready; despite his nerves, he had to stay strong and focus on everything he’d rehearsed.
Then the three children heard their names called, and all three were surprised—it was their turn to perform— but for a few seconds, none of them moved, until Charlie looked at his friends and said, “Come on, that’s what we’ve been preparing for all week.” So the three children made their way to the stage, where there was nervousness and excitement, and in that moment, Charlie remembered his grandfather, his early mistakes, and all the times he’d wanted to give up because he thought he’d never be able to do it right. Lucas also remembered all the rehearsals, and Sofía recalled every detail she had prepared to make that show something special.
The three children climbed onto the stage and noticed the audience, the bright lights, and the judges already in their seats. Charlie looked at his banjo and then at Lucas and Sofía, who were smiling back at him. Now the three children had to face this huge challenge, with everyone waiting for them, and the week of preparation was ready to be put on display in these second rounds.
