Hello, my dear fellow Praetorians
I spent the week battling my way through the new Modern bracket system, trying to reach my goal of 100 matches. I want to tell you which bracket I chose and a little bit about how things went on my journey toward that goal.
Bracket III
Choose Bracket III Silver; I'm used to competing at the Silver league level, and when I was building my deck, I focused on having a balance of units and archons appropriate for that league. For me, it was a good choice then, and it still is now.
Well, I selected my battle bracket and jumped into the fray; since this was a new ranking system, I started at the very bottom. This start made me curious to see how far I could go as I worked my way toward the battle goal.
The battles I faced on my way from Division 9 to Division 8 were easy for me; I was surprised that I was able to move up so quickly without suffering a single loss. The league rewards were good for that level.
When I moved up to Division 7 Silver, to my surprise, I kept my winning streak going, and I liked the rewards in that league much better. I felt invincible at that moment.
The battles to reach Division 6 Silver were a bit of a struggle for me; this marked the start of more challenging battles, and my winning streak began to fade. My spirits dropped a bit, and I was still a long way from my goal at that point; on top of that, the nice rewards dried up, and I ended up getting nothing but energy, which I had plenty of at the time.
I was stuck in Division 6; in the end, it took me several battles over different days to get past it and finally reach Division 5 Gold. I didn't get any notable rewards in this new league either; the Glint is appreciated, but I was hoping for a card.
In the end, I reached my battle goal in this division with a very good win rate; although I'm outside the top 100 in the rankings, I'll aim to break into that range in the remaining days of the season.
I like this new system in Modern; I don’t struggle as much anymore when facing players with maxed-out decks who used to make it hard to enjoy the game. I used to run into a lot of them in lower leagues, and I’d practically lose most of those matches. This brings balance to the game.
The rewards are good; it’s a little strange not to earn SPS after battles, and I’m looking forward to finding out how much I’ll receive at the end of the season.
I hope more players join the game and find their place thanks to this update.
