Luego de la presentación de los tres niños, todo fue distinto, ya que pasaron de estar emocionados a nerviosos, hasta que finalmente las 100 audiciones terminaron y ahora era el turno de los jurados tomar decisiones y comenzar a anunciar quiénes continuarían en el concurso. Charlie, Lucas y Sofía estaban juntos a los demás participantes, donde todos estaban nerviosos, puesto que los resultados definirá el rumbo de su carrera en ese concurso, donde Sofia comentó —Ya terminaron todas las audiciones— Charlie y Lucas recordaron que lo más difícil era la presentación y ya estaba lista, ahora dependían completamente de la decisión de los jurados.
Pasaron varios minutos y comenzaron a llamar a los primeros participantes clasificados donde ellos celebraban, mientras que los demás estaban nerviosos esperando escuchar su nombre y su número. Cada vez aumentaba el número de clasificados y se escuchaba —Número 12, número 28 clasificado, número 52— En ese momento los tres niños permanecían en silencio, pero no dejaban de mirar hacia el escenario, ya que cada vez cada vez quedaban menos lugares disponibles.
After the three children performed, everything changed—they went from being excited to nervous—until finally the 100 auditions were over and it was now the judges’ turn to make their decisions and begin announcing who would move on in the competition. Charlie, Lucas, and Sofía were standing with the other contestants, all of whom were nervous, since the results would determine the course of their careers in the competition. Sofía remarked, “All the auditions are over.” Charlie and Lucas remembered that the hardest part was the performance, and now that it was over, they were completely at the mercy of the judges’ decision.
Several minutes passed, and they began calling the first contestants who had advanced; those contestants celebrated, while the others waited nervously to hear their names and numbers. The number of qualifiers kept growing, and the announcements came: “Number 12, number 28 qualified, number 52.” At that moment, the three children remained silent but kept their eyes fixed on the stage, as fewer and fewer spots remained available.
Muchos niños festejaban con cada anuncio que hacían, por eso Charlie comenzó a pensar que quizás no lo consiguieron y justo en ese momento se escuchó el número 74, algo que los sorprendió, ya que estaba muy cerca de su número, Lucas y Charlie apretaron su banjo y se cerraron sus ojos rogando escuchar su número, pero el siguiente número fue el 76, los tres niños no podían creer eso y por su mente pasó que era imposible que los tomaran en cuenta para la siguiente ronda.
Uno de los jurados tomó el micrófono y anunció que solamente quedaba cinco puestos, por lo tanto, el siguiente número que anunciaron fue el —Número 75— Charlie voltio a ver sus compañeros y ninguno de ellos los podía creer, así que luego de unos segundos Sofía gritó de emoción, Lucas levantó los brazos y Charlie comenzó a bailar de la emoción y en ese mismo instante Charlie pensó en su abuelo, en cada consejo que le había dado y en las veces que había practicado con su banjo para llegar hasta ese momento, además para los tres niños era un gran sueño poder estar dentro de las 60 participaciones que pasarían a la siguiente ronda.
Many children were celebrating with every announcement, so Charlie began to think that maybe they hadn’t made it—and just then they heard the number 74, which surprised them, since it was very close to their number. Lucas and Charlie clutched their banjo and closed their eyes, praying to hear their number, but the next number was 76. The three kids couldn’t believe it, and the thought crossed their minds that there was no way they’d be chosen for the next round.
One of the judges took the microphone and announced that there were only five spots left; therefore, the next number they called was —Number 75—. Charlie turned to look at his friends, and none of them could believe it, so after a few seconds, Sofía screamed with excitement, Lucas raised his arms, and Charlie started dancing with joy. At that very moment, Charlie thought of his grandfather—every piece of advice he’d given him and all the times he’d practiced on his banjo to get to this moment. For all three children, it was a huge dream come true to be among the 60 contestants who would advance to the next round.

That’s why all three smiled—and that number 75 they’d been given held a much greater significance: it marked the moment when Charlie, Lucas, and Sofía had dared to step onto a stage in front of hundreds of people and show everything they had inside. Their new goal was to keep advancing through the rounds.
