That's technically what the Chinese words translate as, despite it pronounced as Yat Yat Seng. It's an old saying of getting better everyday, literally.
It's is a northern themed restaurant, originated from my home town Ipoh. I was having a good time hangout with my colleague, probably one of the only one that still be friend with me as bunch of shoeshine fellas has turned their back.
Ok I really need to get over with all those hatred stuff with my job. Now let's get on with the price tag of this restaurant. Our initial response to the price tag isn't really positive. Who in the right mind will pay 22.90 for a bowl of curry noodle. Apologize I will have to make the vertical orientation.
Iced coffee is the usual Ipoh style, very milky and got the heavy burnt smell to the coffee extract. I usually pay about 2.5 for a glass of these iced coffee. Having the same shit here in Kuala Lumpur, will cost me 6.9. Well, what can I say? They need 5o cover their rental.
The restaurant environment is pretty darn clean. Immediately I snapped some photos and send it back toy home boys and they did confirmed this restaurant is indeed from my home town. The only thing they gotta change is the price tag. Everything also doubled the price compare to my home town. How I wish if I can can get paid doubled compare to my home town 🤣
What am I not really that impressed by was theae fake plants in a restaurant. I know they look good, green for the eyes. The problem being, these plastic plants tend to accumulate dust. Imagine each time someone accidentally poke their head around and dust fly into your iced coffee?
First thing came to our table was the white cut chicken. Why white? It's steam chicken. but if it's roasted chicken, they don't call it brown chicken. No I'm not a fan. But anyone in my country want a piece of white cut chicken.
I didn't order the curry noodle, thought of save up a little by ordering a soy sauce dried noodle. It's 17.9, and soon as it was serve, I know we're in deep trouble. The portion given is so huge, probably each of these plates can fit 2 person.
We also added a bowl of spinach chicken feet. in Chinese, we call it vege feet 🤣 It's better you don't look at the chicken feet when you eat this, but it's a very unique delicacies if you know how to enjoy it. Just try not to think about the legs, you'll be ok with it.
As if the huge bowl of spinach chicken feet is not big enough, we also added a bowl of sambal cockle. The amount of chilli paste mixed with many spices, topped on the raw cockle, as soon as the cockle explode in my mouth, the sea juices washed into my nose as if reminding me I haven't been to the beach for sometime already!
When things looked like out of control, another huge plate of roasted chicken, roasted pork belly, and BBQ pork came to the table. We didn't know the portion was this big when we order, which is no wonder they charge 22.90. We will have to get the waiter to keep the rice and leave the meat on the table.
Part of the wall has a large postera dnt he brief history of the restaurant and it's origin. I know this kind of restaurant probably will not have much to "original" taste compare to my home town.
What people really like to enjoy, is the theme. Just like if you have a cheese burger in the US, try one at the Canada and you can tell the difference. Om not saying they're not nice, but I bet if they cook original Ipoh taste, they'd probably start to lose customers.
Oh the owner is rightfully from my home town, the second generation of the restaurant brand. I know they're trying their best to make it as authentic as possible compare to my home town. I'm thankful to have an opportunity to try this restaurant.
For 2 reasons for not being able to come back soon. I've got my job offer, and my future company will not be anywhere near here. Another reason being, I need to find some big eaters to go together so I can eat a lot more variety and not waste food.
