For some reason, life has been finding chance to make a joke of me. The crypto realm had taken a tool by killing(or probably self terminating) FTX, and the shake affected much of my portfolio out there. My already shrunk portfolio is now left with almost nothing.
I personally only hold a small amount in the exchange that. Majority of my liquids are in dollar pegged "stable" coin. And also a handsome amount of crypto currently ⅛ of its original value stored at a buddy's account. Not being sarcastic, but I'm very clumsy in handling online portfolio. I just don't want myself accidentally posting my wallet key at a public forum and left me with nothing. It's best for me to divert my assets so I don't kill myself in the event of twitchy finger.
All that has to be changed now. My buddy no longer want to maintain his account, and is going to transfer everything he has to his hardware wallet. He dropped me messages ask me to take back whatever I have left with, and he does not want to take responsible on my portion. I guess we all have the same reason to doubt if our exchange is any safe nowadays.
That left me with very little to no choice. My exchange is neither reliable. What's the point transfering a chicken from one crocodile mouth to another? Since there's nothing much I can do about it, the next best thing I thought of, exchange them in hive, and send it to me. After my last delegation of 30k whole amount to ASEAN Hive community, I have basically not much hoping for any sort of return. May be it's a good time for me to think about my own personal interest.
The hives came in 2 batches, one the day before and once again my friend @atyh helped me convert the rest of them and send it back to me today. That point of time, I was still thinking should I convert them all to HBD, and put into savings. Had a small discussion with the Chinese community, and we all agree 3% as HP against 20% APR if savings in HBD form, is just way too big of a difference to NOT seeing the profit.
But then, I also reminding myself, if everyone start power down, change their hive to HBD and aim for the APR, then who else is going to UPVOTE? Frankly, if every whale, every curation guild decided to do so, who else is going to run the community? What's the point if you have a community, and the rest of the users are not participating because the community curation program suck with 0 dollar UPVOTE.
I guess, I'm the butter head that has a small brain to see the opportunity to earn 20% profit, and decided to let my ego take over my action. I didn't wait too long until I decide to change the HIVE and put them into savings, immediately I hit the power up button, and reluctantly hit the send ALL button, sealed the deal and now I'm officially 40khp worth. Am I happy with what I did? Not really, because I hardly update my blog nowadays, what's good if I have HP? Am I regret because I passed the opportunity to make 20% extra every year? Probably not. My ego tells me, probably is a stupid but honourable decision to make. Keep the HP to be an influencer, rather than an opportunist.
