I started writing one and it seemed to be going nowhere? Well, I just did that. I had a picture I took myself and everything. Then I went to write something and it just seemed like nothing is happening.
So I thought I would scrap it and write about writing. Yes, why not? I mean that is what we are all doing here on PALNet and Steemit, we write.
We pull out words that are on our mind and string the words to certain sentences and after awhile you have something to post. Hopefully.
So how did I even get here? Well, it was over 2 years ago that I was watching Youtube minding my own business and I was watching Gregory Mannarino. Well he mentioned that he just got on Steemit and wanted his people that watch him to get on it too.
Well, that is how I got here. At first I didn't even write anything. I just read and commented. That was fine at first. Then I wanted to see if I could write something.
I would do maybe about 3 blogs a week. Then I seen a reply on someone else's comment. The reply mentioned to the one that wrote the comment that she should do a blog everyday.
Well, that reply was not supposed to be to me, but I took that as very good information. Well, then I had a goal to do a blog everyday. Most times I can come up with something to write.
I mean, isn't writing like talking? In a conversation I mostly don't seem to have a loss for words. Also it does go good with a book that I read awhile back.
That book is called, If You Can Talk, You Can Write, by Joel Saltzman. So basically I just talk in my head and key as I go. Yes, talking through the keyboard.
Well, sometimes if I am away from my computer then I will use pen and paper. I hate to key on my phone. I like writing on a full keyboard.
You know I never even used to type that well. You see I was in high school before the personal computer came out. My mom had an old Underwood typewriter that I would use sometimes to turn in papers.
It was the telephone company that got me to the point where I feel good about keying on a keyboard. Well, even when I first got to the telephone company back in late 1979, we didn't even use computers that didn't happen until a few years after I started with the telephone company. So we switched to the computer in 1982.
I thought that keying on the keyboard wouldn't work, as the keyboard was an ABC type of keyboard. So my keying strategies were a lot different then.
Then years later they finally gave us a QWERTY type of keyboard. Eight hours and more a day on the keyboard got me somewhat better at keying.
OK, enough with keying. I like to use the writing tool called, WordCounter. I like to write a least 300 words in a blog and try to go no more than 1000 words.
The 300 word thing for me was because a guy that had a small magazine offered me to write a 300 word article on something I was talking to him about. He told me that he would not pay me, but that I could plug anything that I wanted in my article. I think that was back in the late 1990's.
Wow, has time slipped by. Well, I am an old guy, 60 years old as I write. That is one good thing about being old and writing, is that I have my memories to fall back on in writing more on a certain thing.
Ok, the other thing that one has to deal with in writing is editing. Well, I'm wasn't very good in English classes. I remember just getting by. So I just go by sound.
I run my writing though a text to speech program over and over again. Every time I hear a mistake I just correct and run the text to speech again. I mean I do this many, many times, again and again.
It seems so much easier to just write. The cleaning it all up is the hard part. Well to me, anyway.
Also since I do like reading or listening to the Bible I may put some scriptures into my writing also.
Let's end with a scripture, as it is written, Till I come, give attendance to reading, to exhortation, to doctrine. 1 Timothy 4:13.
