Who is the driver? Well, that would be me, and who am I? I am David, a retired guy, that retired from the telephone company back at the end of 2010. This is my 93 Honda Accord EX Coupe. You see I didn't really want to drive kids to or from school, but my neighbor told me that he was going out of state for awhile. He wanted me to drive his children either to drop them off or pick them up from school when needed.
At first I didn't want to do it. I asked my neighbor if there was family that can do this. I really didn't want to be responsible for his children. Some how he talked me into it and he even negotiated a price per ride.
So I did agree to do that. That was back in December of 2019. It is now 2022 and I am still driving them for school, but it expanded to not only school, but I take two of his older sons to work. So they make their own money, well they have to pay for their rides to and/or from work too.
The older one likes to go to and from the gym and yes I do drive him to and from the gym so he can work out and yes he does pay me for that..
There were even times when I took the oldest and the youngest one to a haircut appointment. I guess I am getting use to it and they do pay me, so I can't complain.
For school, this year they changed the times of pick up. So I pick up the grade school kids, then I have to go through traffic to pick up the high school kids. The thing is that the grade school and the high school get out at almost the same time. So I figured it would be safer to pick up the grade school kids first, then to pick up the high school kids. The high school kids have to wait at least 10 minutes for us to get there as I still have to go through traffic.
Last year it was better as high school would get off at 2:18 PM and the grade school would get off at 3:15 PM so there was a lot of time to go there and even park and wait for them. I found out that they changed the time, because kids were sleeping in class. Well, I can tell you right now if the kid plays on his or her phone till the wee hours of the night, then they will sleep in the class room, but now they put a strain on the parents and even the traffic, as before this time change in schools the traffic was not as bad as it is right now.
So I do hope they will change things back to the way they used to have it.
Well, I guess I am just ranting, and driving is just driving. I just hope I keep these kids safe. Their mom does bring them to school and pick them up from school and other events when she is free to do so, but she is a busy woman.
Let's end with a scripture, as it is written, Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it. Proverbs 22:6.
