As the year draws to an end, one thing in the minds of several and many people is holding a reunion. A gathering of old friends, classmates and the people who haven't seen each other in a long while. For some, this is something that happens yearly, so they see each other at the end of the year during the reunion. For others, it could take years and even decades that they haven't seen one another, and so planning and organising a reunion for that purpose.
It's usually an engaging time of the year, when the holiday season comes around and people are looking forward to relax, spend time with loved ones and have some fun, good time. People must have travelled home for the holiday season, away from work stress to have an enjoyable time. It makes sense that this is the period these reunion gatherings are held, as it gives the opportunity for many to be around and to attend.
Reunions are usually nice and beautiful. People get to connect with long-lost friends or even those they see from time to time, and get to catch up on life while reliving old memories. This might not be considered much, but it's one of the simple yet beautiful things about life; to reconnect with old friends or classmates and have a good time. In a way, this strengthens or encourages the relationship already established, and helps to establish new ones as well.
It's surely going to feel good to be in such a setting; to be in a reunion, a room full of old friends and classmates. You're no longer dealing with the people you knew in the old days as they were. There would be growth; physically and otherwise, surprises, changes, and so on. Some aspirations and dreams would've been achieved, some career paths attained, homes and families built, even while some are still in the process towards that, and more.
It points to the fact that life moves in different phases and at different speeds for different people. The people you started together with will be at different levels in this life journey than you. It's important to recognise that in such a gathering, enjoy the moments rather; build connection and restore an existing but quietened relationship. I think that's one point and a good thing about a reunion, rather than just a gathering for a fun and enjoyable time.
What would it be like to be in a room like that? It would be a nice, well-spent time for me. Being in a room with old classmates and friends I haven't seen in a long while, meeting up and catching up on life while reliving the memories is something that should definitely be worth it. I would appreciate being in such a space as it would be lively, beautiful and memorable. It would feel like the reunion shouldn't end because of how it feels good to be in the company of this people again. I've seen it happen and what it would feel like.
