The weekend has come and with it new opportunities. Opportunities, to see historical finds, of another country. The similarities with other nations and the human heritage not only of the past, but of the present generations. An unfamiliar way of life, what drives someone tick and what comforts him. Of course, all this, one cannot understand at first sight, it takes time to get to know a foreign history and way of life. So I made it my mission, every weekend to explore some of the historical sites in the surrounding area, and in doing so, get to know, Netherlands. Why? Because we humans learn from the past, from mistakes, architecture and everything that came before us and will remain after. Everything around us has the magical power to change our lives. Take for example, the beautiful nature early in the morning...
Many people run not only for their health, but for the peace that brings, the fresh air and those small, unfamiliar sounds of the forest world awakening. Our soul is cleansed, from bad emotions and we give a restart to our consciousness.
The Theodorus Mill is one of the sights I managed to visit this Saturday. It was built in 2005, with a restaurant opening soon after. Mills are apparently commonplace, for the Netherlands, though many have been demolished. It speaks of a people who have always hard working. Definitely a fascinating history that I have yet to begin to explore.
And the mill itself, will forever remain in my mind, with its beautiful lakes, where fishermen come early in the morning to catch fish, or just to clear their minds. The place has that effect on people. The silence, the sunshine that stands out on the water surface. Beautiful. The park is equipped, with benches, where even if you are not here to fish, you can just sit in peace and enjoy the surroundings.
suffer from the past, to long for the future, but to forget the present.
