...We explore space in search of answers, but sometimes we only find more questions. I'm Dr. Dana Dwitt and I'll tell you the story of the EX-A2542 exploration.
Chapter II.7 - Confrontation
Mr. Thomas's group had activated the false alarm and expected all spacecraft personnel to move into the cargo area, but this did not happen. Miles knew Thomas' intentions and remained with his group confined to the command post.
"This plan is a failure," said one of the men in the crowd.
"Yes, this is bullshit," said another.
More than half an hour had passed and no one was going to the fire signal, at that moment Thomas realized the failure of his plan.
"Let's take the command center by force!" a voice was heard from the group.
Thomas did not want a frank confrontation, he was looking for the surprise factor and now that he had lost it he was sorry for his actions. "Wait! Maybe we're making a mistake," Thomas said, trying to avoid an attack on the command center, but everyone had already made a decision and just didn't listen.
For some reason the ship was slowing down, something Miles didn't count on, he more than anyone wanted to end this as soon as possible, overcome the resistance offered by the planet's magnetism and be able to get closer to colonize the uranium giant once and for all. But he could not decipher what was happening, at least not completely.
"Maximum thrusters," said Miles.
"Captain, at this rate we would run out of enough fuel for the return."
"It's all or nothing official, we have to colonize this planet anyway, don't worry, I know we'll make it."
There was another situation to which he also had to devote part of his ingenuity, a revolt in the crew should not be handled lightly, luckily he had heard it in time thanks to Doc, who from the infirmary had been able to listen to everything and knew the intentions of Mr. Thomas.
The sound of the laser hitting the force field of the command post worried all of us who were on the bridge, with the thrusters working at maximum the shield would not have enough energy to withstand an attack for long.
"Miss Dwitt, you look beautiful today," Miles tells me, completely out of place.
"I don't think it's time to say such a thing. Don't you have enough problems to worry about?"
"If it's not a good time now, then when?"
"Captain, do you want me to send more energy to the force field? We could hold out longer," asked one of the officers.
"Keep the thrusters working to the maximum, that's all that matters" again Miles ordered with a lot of authority, there's not much difference in dying within five minutes to dying within five hours, he thought.
The bridge shield finally fell and the laser began to penetrate the metal, a confrontation was inevitable, disaster was approaching.
But suddenly there was a thunderous explosion that shook the ship, we all fell to the ground and then we were pushed back by a powerful force of gravity, all the controls on the ship stopped working. Now we were vertiginously approaching that mysterious planet that attracted us with the force of an immense black hole.
