The flight from Orlando to Los Angeles is about 5.5 hours. I've flown that leg twice, once via Delta and once via American Airlines. In this case, American Airlines is better mainly because of the arrival terminal. Delta's is separated from the international terminal by a shuttle bus ride.
Generally I prefer a window seat when I fly. This time it was a very full flight and I was stuck with a middle seat despite checking in early. Luckily, whoever was supposed to have the window seat didn't show so I got a window seat and more importantly extra space.
I've been to Los Angeles once before and like this time it was only to the airport. It seems to be a pretty typical airport if a bit large and somewhat fragmented. The International Terminal or Terminal B or TBIT or the Tom Bradley International Terminal or The Terminal With Many Names is nice except for the few gates that are in the "basement" area. From these you have to take a 20 minute shuttle bus ride across the tarmac to another gate...
There were some nice views flying over the desert around sunset as we approached LAX...
And of course you get a view of part of the city as you get closer to the airport...
Better than staring at the back of the seat in front of you anyway. But this 5+ hour flight was the short part of the trip...
