I have been focused on Ego and Skill to ensure that I earned more starbits for the fans that I had. Over the past few weeks, I have been questioning if that was the wisest choice.
I have come to the realization that it might not have been and that I should have been adding as much IM as possible along the way as well.
Currently I only have 108 IM. In looking at all of the other players in the rankings, I am not even close to most.
This past week, I was traveling with little to no access to internet. Due to this, my weekly minutes fell to 2610. I normally have around 5000 weekly minutes on average.
I found in the help section exactly how the rankings points were calculated. I noticed a common item in all of the individual column calculations. "Average IM"
IM is used in the calculation 5 or more times which makes it the most important stat on your account. I always thought it was the least important so I did not pay it much attention. Now I know otherwise.
To check out if it is truly as important as I now believe, I used all of the Starbits that I earned this week and purchase as many cards with the highest IM points as possible. I had 35,000 Starbits and was able to purchase 8 cards which had 5 IM each, adding 40 IM points to my stats.
Before this purchase, I had 108 IM points now I have 148 IM points. This is almost a 40% increase in my IM total points. With that much of an increase, I should greatly improve my ranking. However the calculations also points out that several of the calculation items are based on "the mean average of 100 random accounts."
If this helps, then I will probably be more focused on my IM point total in future weeks.
