Just last week was my third anniversary of my last day working for large company. I retired three years ago and really love it.

That is not to say there have not been ups and downs but not being tied to a full time position, managing people and running a department has made a huge difference in my stress level.

Having to deal with everyone else's problems, excuses and challenges of not having the right staff on a project where the deadline is tomorrow was kind of stressful but I managed and I also worked long hours making sure I kept all the various things that were required completed in a timely manner.

Now, I do not have to worry about a staff member that is sick or if they had over committed themselves in their work or home life. I just have to worry and take care of myself, family and those around me.

Now that I am retired, I can just sit around and do nothing if that is what I would like. However, I make sure I keep busy and now I do not have all those deadlines looming over my every minute. I have a list of things that I want or need to do but I do not pressure myself to try to complete them all as quickly as possible. I now take my time and enjoy the things I do when I want to do them.

One of those projects that I love working on is the Hive Platform. I love creating posts, participating in the various communities, supporting the community projects and playing all the games that have been created here on the Hive Platform.

And did I mention that all of those activities earn me a little along the way!!

Just last week something happened to my computer and it's speed dropped so low that it would take a minute just to open a program. Needless to say this was very bad for me because I liked creating content on almost a daily basis and also playing my games. And since the next day was the first, I needed to get it back up and running so I could participate in the monthly Hive Power Up Day.

Now none of this was possible. Instead of stressing out, I took a long walk and then started researching items by looking at the Task Manager to see what programs were using all the CPU and memory. It also made me remember why I did not like all those deadlines I had at work.

I had my phone so did little things on it but none of the big stuff. It was actually nice not to have all my extra time back. I sat out on the back porch and started to thing about being retired and everything I loved about it.

Needless to say, I took my time getting my computer back up and running. Having projects to work on is fun but not when you make them stressful when you do not need to. Going forward, I will not be putting all the pressure on myself to do things just to do them but now I will be doing things because they make me feel good.

Hopefully you are enjoying what ever you are doing and loving it.
