Anyone ever experienced this?
Growing up was quite tough for me all because of some of the experiences I have had to go through in the hands of people. It's not a new thing anymore that you can be in a class with your age mates and yet they are not your strength mates. I happen to be in such a class where you would have one boy whose father was rich enough to buy him enough milk and all the necessary junks to give him the fats in his body that will make him a bully in school.
Many times, I run from sitting close to this boy called "Timi"
Each and everyday was a thought through for me because this boy had a lot of strength that could throw me from the school and then I possibly land on my bed at home. Lol.
There could be a discuss, but when "Timi" enters, everybody just resets and become just as normal as though nothing was going on. The worrisome part was that the careless teachers were not even paying attention to all that was going on in the class as all the students are fearful of the "Timi".
MY "TIMI" EXPERIENCE OUTSIDE SCHOOL
There was a particular day when I left school and was just on my way home, then I looked up to see that someone was waiting and becking on me at the other side of the road. Well, it was not an unusual experience knowing that I could predict the next thing to happen.
The odds weren't so favorable as running would not solve anything as he was faster than I was, waiting was going to be worse because I will be giving him the full fledge right to mess up with me which most times led to beating, beyond just bullying.
No one could help as it was a lonely street.
As I moved closer to "Timi", he reached out for me and without any questioning, he dashed his palm on my face. I couldn't argue with such a huge creature and no one would help fight him around. I got about 3 slaps on my cheek that day and even though the giant in me cried for help and believed I could handle the tears without visible attention from people, I didn't even know when I lost it and my uniform was soaked in tears.
The bad part is every time I cried home, I cleaned my face before getting home so as not to be noticed by my parents.
My reason for doing that was just to save myself of another day of trouble from Timi because any step taken by my parent will lead to another session of harsh treatment by Timi the next time we see.
I was only one of about 15 other kids in my class who were maltreated by Timi all because of two things, which stems from either:
I was losing my learning ability at some point in school. It got to a point where I was physically present in class but I was long gone in thought of the calculations of the route of escape to my home just after school.
Do you think there is still a "Timi" in this generation and in our current Schools?
Dont be blinded to think there isn't when you can catch from my story that talking is never an option sometimes for that kid who is threatened from school.
Every child deserve a good life
I can remember such days in school and I feel bad or sad because they are days I can never live in again knowing I am now matured and cannot go back to such times.
Meaning, Timi stole my growing up away from me.... The joy, the fun, the excitement, the moments where kids should feel free in their skins and express themselves. I'm in tears typing this right now
Do I think my children won't be victims too?
Of course not. Will do all I can do to curb such getting to my daughter or son but I believe the entire society has a larger roll to play in helping to stop these bully kids from taking advantage of the other kids at school. We all have right to life, and enablement to living rightly.
There are some irreplaceable moments in a child's life that should not be toiled with. Moments when:
Bullying does a whole lot of things to a kid and must be stopped. Few of the things bullying does to a kid is:
Any child who has gone through such treatments from bullies can experience one or more of all these things. I am one who has been through and I can tell a child can be dead inside, even while still living with these experiences.
SOLUTIONS THAT CAN BE PROFFERED
A constant check of a child's emotional composition per time by the parent
Well, maybe if my mom paid a little closer attention to the fact that I am emotionally distorted, I could have dared to narrate my experience with her, departing the consequences
Constantly educating the children about the existence of some really bad culture like bullying that kids are involved in.
Well, education is the bedrock of proper living. When you know something, even when any situation presents itself before you, there is a consciousness that does not allow you accept some things even when it's like a status quo in such cases. Educating the children in such things as bullying will solve alot of issue.
Raising a campaign against such vices
When noise about something is made, it preinforms the general public about the things going on in the society and how some of these things can be tamed. Social campaign goes along way to sensitize people on the effects of these bad situation called "bullying"
Bullying is a very bad thing and should be stopped. I am just one of the lucky ones who survived and came out better and striving to be good while also encouraging others to do so. Let's face it. Bullying has a very wrong impacts on our kids and shouldn't be celebrated.
STOP BULLYING TODAY
