Unbroken

Hey Steemers,

I want to share something that's been resonating with me as of late. The message is this: you are not broken. I say this without exception, because there is none. Regardless of what you'd like to change or ways you hope to grow... this remains an intrinsic truth.

Summit that Peak
Society would have us believe otherwise. Society would have us believe that we are flawed beings, in need of products and external solutions. There are whole industries profiting off of people's insecurities. These businesses contribute to a cultural misconception of what beauty and success and fulfillment look like. I do not believe in any one ideal; you zig and I'll zag, and we'll both feel fabulous doing it. Please, bring all of yourself to the table. Every bit that you've been made to believe is "less than" or "too much". Because there is nothing I do not wish to see.

Let the light shine through
The desire for growth is healthy and positive, but it is imperative that it comes from a place of love.
~ Not, "I'm currently weak, and need to lift some crazy weight". Instead, "my body has a remarkable physical capacity and I'd like to test that. Let's lift!"
~ Not, "I will only be respected once I obtain [X] degree". Instead, "How much can I expand my knowledge? What opportunity will this bring?"

Remember how they made you feel
Throughout my eating disorder, I believed that there was something wrong with my body. I berated it in the mirror; I undermined its ability to thrive. I thought it impossible that others would consider me beautiful or worthy of love until changes were made. This could not have been further from the truth. The people in our lives cherish us for who we are right now, in this moment. They make no conditional clauses and ask for nothing more than connection.

Look straight into the light
Hear this: you are not broken. Expand, alter, progress... but do it with the wisdom that even if you stayed exactly as you are, it would be enough.
