..ells Thomas. Yeah, Becca went straight to Thomas, the regional director. Completely goes behind managements back and tells Thomas so now Lexi's all pissed off. Lexi's cool. And always fair, too, she doesn't 'accidentally' make manager salary. She totally would've mediated.
But, check this out. I just found out today that Thomas is the one who hired Sam, I didn't know that. No way Becca knew that.
Thomas hired Sam? Since when does he have time to hire employees?
He doesn't. Ok, so, get this, I just found this out too. Sam's brother and Thomas's son are on the same little league team and apparently Sam is real good at working with Thomas' son. His son has special needs, remember?
Of course. Good for Sam then. Fuck Becca. What exactly did she say to Thomas or what did Sam do that was so bad?
He told her she looks weird.
That's it?
That's it.
Well, he's Sam so, you know, he said it a couple times.
I was right there. All three of us were in the break room together. Sam told Becca she has funny glasses, that's how it started.
Well, Becca, all 'sensitive and the world's ending every day' Becca told him that's not nice. "That's not nice, Sam. You shouldn't say that."
That's how she talks to him? Really?
I know! So, Sam gets all Sam on her and starts laughing like he does and told her she looks weird so, what's Becca do? Feeds into it, "that's not nice Sam."
"You look weird."
"Sam, I said that isn't nice."
"You look weird."
I thought it was funny and totally cute. Sam's like the most harmless ever and has a crush on Becca, she knows it too. So, I stopped it before her feelings got all kindergarten and Told Sam it's ok if no one gets his jokes, we left the break room. I thought it was over.
Did he say something else? What else could he have possibly said that was so horrible, 'don't choke on your Chick-fil-A?'
No, only you would say that. And we already know that's why you'd never last a single minute working with the public. She started crying. Goes to Thomas's office balling her eyes out.
Crying-crying or crying like a girl, crying?
Crying-crying.
Serious-serious?? She cried to the regional manager because he said she's weird, that's all he said?! He didn't curse or say something inappropriate or anything else, 'you're weird,' that's it?
That's it.
WTF!
I know! And it's not just her. Several people have a problem with him. I told Sam the other day to just come ask me if I need help first before asking anyone else.
Jerilyn told Lexi she doesn't want Sam's help anymore cuz all he ever does is tell her she's doing it wrong.
Doing what wrong?
Everything.
L o L
I can only maintain composure so long. I laughed out loud.
People today are soft as fuck. I've never met Sam but I've heard enough about him, I feel like I know him pretty well. I don't go to Puras place of employment—never have. If she's tending bar or managing logistics or drafting documents, I give her space. I've always believed in order to have a successful career, you must be able to separate home from work. I help her by not going to her work.
Sam's the new guy, only been there a couple months compared to everyone else's tenures. And he was hired by the regional manager, someone no one can talk shit about and someone who never does any hiring so they're jealous.
Has to be it.
They work with the general public. Sam interacts with hundreds of random strangers consistently and not one time has a customer or vendor or anyone else had anything bad to say about him.
Management goes out of their way to accommodate him. He never calls in sick or shows up late or says no to an assignment unlike more than half of their work staff, according to Pura. Customers, retailers, her and a couple others love him. Out of everyone Sam engages with every day, the only people who have a problem with him are his colleagues.
Has to be a jealousy thing.
He's the new hire, the newest team member they call it. I call that the lowest in pecking order. Thomas hired him and he coaches his son, they think he has leverage—has to be it.
Sam isn't like them. Or me. He has a third copy or part of a third copy of chromosome 21, it's called. He's differe ʐʍք.
