Another case of data been stolen from an incompetent company, and the media tries to pin some of the blame onto bitcoin.
(Yet again)
City banks plan to hoard bitcoins to help them pay cyber ransoms
Well, the idiots who can't be trusted with security and can't be trusted with our money are now going to be holding bitcoin. (Great)
Maybe good for the bitcoin price, but bad for market manipulation, a favourite of big corporations.
Not to mention the big one a few months back. Here
Firstly the CIA managed to release details of a security breach, which was then used by hackers to install ransomware on the
NHS (and computers around the world who hadn't installed the windows security updates.) online files to require payments to unlock the files.
The hackers never collected any of the bitcoins that they received, as contrary to media SHOUTERY bitcoin can in fact be traced pretty well, certainly better than cash, or Swiss bank accounts.
According to infosecurity magazine, insider threats are in fact responsible for 43% of data breaches( some malicious, some accidental)
Bitcoin has been used to trackdown sex traffickers, so I guess it's not really 100% anonymous. here Obviously if you have a bitcoin or crypto wallet, you can transfer the code for your bitcoin in a face to face transcation by handing over the codes. but if you were a super criminal I think cash would be a much easier way to do this.
Combating cyber security tips
While the threat of cyber-attacks is growing, many organisations struggle to even get the basic safeguards in place to protect their infrastructure and data. Practical security measures that emerged from the roundtable included:
There are a number of free security options online, which makes these tips easy to implement.
At a higher level, senior IT professionals should also be encouraged to share information among their peers and competitors, as one participant pointed out: “Security transcends competition.”
A wider view of this would look a the billions of taxpayers money wasted in the private or public sector spent on incompetant security software and experts. But no, just talk of the value of the security market expanding (no surprise there. )
The media and billionaires will scream about crypto whilst suimultaneously trying to line their own pockets , and control the crypto market. They will also see that fiat currency (printed bullshit) under threat, which may move certain players into action.
A lot of these security breaches seem like false flags to me, it seems that they will always try to #blamebitcoin when they can't #blamerussia on their own incompetence, or machinations.
Any crypto investing is going to be a rollercoaster ride for anyone, that's for sure. My advice would be to put your head down and look at the real utility of any crypto, and not get caught up in the hype.
Just be aware of the safety of your own data, Steemit / bitcoin passwords, crypto wallets and other data. If you want to play it safe go for a paper wallet!!! And keep multiple copies safe and in different locations. (in case of a fire or burglary)
Oh, and don't store your crypto at an exhchange, they have been known to run into the odd problem. (!!!!!!)))
As well as tips, I also provide some occasional shoots from my photography, I hope that you enjoy.
