Since I like cycling and I also like photography, tonight I suddenly thought… why not combine both hobbies into one activity? It sounded like a good idea while I was thinking about what I should do with my evening, and since both activities allow me to explore the city, I decided to go for it!
For tonight's adventure, I rented an Anywheel bicycle instead of bringing my own bike. I only planned to have a short cycling session, and I know myself too well LOL. Whenever I'm using my own bicycle, I somehow start taking the ride seriously and end up cycling much farther than I originally planned!
So to avoid that temptation, renting a bicycle was the better option.
Besides, I still have a valid Anywheel Bike Pass, so I might as well make good use of it instead of letting it go to waste. And while checking my account, I realized that I'm already very close to completing a milestone that I'm quite excited about.
I've travelled 974.17 KM using Anywheel bicycles!
That means I'm only around 26 KM away from reaching 1,000 KM. Yay!!!
According to the app, I've also saved S$417 through the Anywheel Pass. Seeing that amount was quite satisfying because it reminded me of just how much travelling around Singapore I've done using these bicycles. Since I'm using a monthly bike pass, many of these short trips around the city have become much more affordable compared to taking public transport every single time.
I'll definitely make another post once I finally reach that 1,000 KM milestone!
Anyway, back to tonight's adventure.
Instead of simply cycling continuously, I made plenty of stops whenever something interesting caught my attention. That's one thing I enjoy about combining cycling with street photography. A bicycle allows me to cover more distance than walking, but I'm still moving slowly enough to notice the little things happening around me.
One of the funniest scenes I spotted was an uncle riding his bicycle while wearing a huge Minions backpack. LOL! It was such a random but cheerful sight that I couldn't resist taking a photo.
You definitely don't need a sign to know there's durian nearby because the aroma will announce its presence long before you reach the stall LOL. The bright lights, piles of durians and people sitting around made it a nice little street photography scene.
As I continued cycling, I photographed some of the older shophouses lining the streets. I always enjoy seeing these older buildings because they add so much character to the city, especially when they're surrounded by newer developments.
Speaking of modern architecture, another building caught my attention because of the amount of greenery covering its façade. I really like this combination of modern architecture and plants. It somehow softens the appearance of the building and makes it feel more alive.
And of course, I couldn't ignore the MRT tracks above me. The long concrete structures created some amazing leading lines, especially against the blue evening sky. Sometimes something as ordinary as an MRT track can become an interesting photography subject when viewed from the right angle.
Tonight wasn't a long cycling adventure, but it was exactly what I wanted—a relaxed ride, plenty of interesting city scenes, and another opportunity to enjoy photography.
