Merry Christmas to Miu!!!
Hello Hivers of the Holozing Community!
I wanted to make something special during this holiday so I created a "Christmas" version of Miu! Is Miu the cutest among all of the Holomons? I believe everyone will agree :)
In case you did not capture the details about Miu, he is inspired by @acidyo's pet Miu.
Miu is the cuddliest but fierce-looking Holomon there are right now. I think he would be an interesting subject for this Christmas-themed artwork. The art style that I did is a mixed-media technique using a marker pen for the lines and highlighters for coloring.
The materials that I used are the average office stationaries so the result looks a little rough. The shading is the challenging part of the process because it's not so easy to control the highlighters and I haven't learned the proper technique yet.
Here's the process of how I created my artwork.
Step 1
This is the important part of the process, the part where I set the proportions right. I used a 2B Staedtler pencil to sketch the base shapes and some of the main details of Miu.
Step 2
Right after the sketching is the drawing of lines using the permanent marker. I'm using the Pilot Twin Marker which has 2 line thickness, the fine line, and the extra fine line. I like the flexibility of this twin marker because gives the option to draw the details using the extra fine line while the fine line points to outline the character. In the case of Miu, I only used the thicker line for his eyes.
Step 3
Here comes the most enjoyable part of the creation process, it's coloring time! This is the part of the process that I feel like a small kid again. As I mentioned earlier, I'm still trying to figure out the technique for using highlighters so it's a bit rough right now. So far, the way I do it is to start along the borders and then shade the area where the color applies, and then apply 2 to 3 layers with the highlighter to simulate the shading of the darker spots.
That's it!
It was a basic 3-step process yet it was an enjoyable experience for me. It's been a long time since I created an artwork with my bare hands with the use of a mouse or software. Holozing has inspired me to do something with my hands and find out if I still have the "artistic" of me. Hopefully, I could develop this into a hobby and be able to re-learn the techniques that I used to know or was familiar with.
We are 1 day + 2 hours + 40 minutes away from Christmas Eve so I would like to wish everyone an advance Merry Christmas!
