Ever since I started cycling around Singapore, one of the goals I set for myself is to visit as many parks as possible. With hundreds of recreational and neighborhood parks scattered across the city, I know I’m still very far from completing this little mission LOL. But that is also what makes it exciting!
Cycling has made me more aware and appreciative of Singapore’s greener side. Before I started these adventures, I honestly didn’t pay much attention to how much nature exists between our buildings, MRT lines, roads, and residential estates. Singapore continues to develop as a modern and high-tech city, but at the same time, greenery is being blended into the urban landscape.
I really enjoy that contrast. One moment I can be cycling beside apartment buildings and busy roads, and not long after, I’m surrounded by trees, ponds, reservoirs, and wildlife. That city-and-nature experience has become one of my favorite parts of exploring Singapore. It also matches the way I usually enjoy sharing my adventures—through the little things I notice and how a place makes me feel.
So today, let me share some of my favorite green spaces that I’ve visited so far!
Bishan-Ang Mo Kio Park
Located between Bishan and Ang Mo Kio, this is one of my favorite parks near the central part of Singapore. Much of the landscape is carefully designed, but it still manages to feel wonderfully natural. I especially enjoy the sprawling gardens, water features, and ponds. It is simply a pleasant place to wander around.
Kallang River
The river itself is the centerpiece for me. Along the way are little pockets of greenery where you can slow down and enjoy the surroundings. Cycling, picnicking, walking, and even kayaking make this area an enjoyable escape without really leaving the city.
Mandai Boardwalk
I love the curving boardwalk beside Upper Seletar Reservoir. This is the kind of place I would choose for a peaceful Sunday morning. The water, surrounding trees, and quiet atmosphere make it perfect for simply walking slowly and appreciating nature.
Little Guilin
Probably one of Singapore’s most dramatic-looking parks! The huge rock formations rising above the lake make the scenery feel completely different from the Singapore I normally see. Knowing that the area was once a quarry makes its transformation into a beautiful green space even more interesting.
Rower’s Bay
Getting here by bicycle can be a challenge, which is exactly why I enjoy it LOL. After a tiring ride, sitting beside the water feels incredibly satisfying. I especially like visiting around sunset when everything becomes calmer.
Pang Sua Pond
This is another peaceful spot where I can simply relax and unwind. There’s a large pond, walking paths and bridges, landscaped greenery, and nice views toward the nearby town. Nothing needs to be rushed here.
Sungei Buloh Wetland Reserve
For wildlife and bird photography, this place is amazing! Bring a long-range lens if you have one. But even without a camera, walking through the wetlands feels like temporarily escaping the hustle and bustle of city life.
Pasir Ris Beach
This one is quite far for me, so cycling here becomes an adventure by itself. I love the open shoreline and the feeling of having more sky above me. It’s also a lovely area for camping, strolling beside the sea, or simply enjoying the breeze.
Chinese Garden
And finally, Chinese Garden! I’ve visited many times, yet somehow I still feel there are corners left for me to explore. With its lakes, gardens, greenery, bridges, and beautiful pagoda, it is a place that keeps giving me reasons to return.
My park adventure is definitely far from finished. Every cycling trip gives me another opportunity to discover a quieter, greener side of my city, and hopefully I’ll slowly make my way through many more of Singapore’s parks.
