I spent last Saturday night walking around the Maxwell area. A photo walk like this is my way of burning off the food I ate beforehand. I also took some videos along the way, and surprisingly, one of them ended up being one of the best-performing videos on my TikTok page.
I honestly didn’t expect it to get any attention—it was just a single clip, less than a minute long, that I posted right after filming. Somehow, the algorithm worked its magic and showed it to more people who ended up liking it.
To this day, I’m still baffled by how some of my videos manage to gain traction, even when I put in very little effort. The unpredictability of the TikTok algorithm always keeps me curious. Hopefully, I’ll figure it out someday.
Anyway, that’s not the focus of today’s post—I’ll be sharing some photos I took during my walk. Of course, I’ll also include a video I captured that night.
It was still drizzling during the walk, so I found myself hopping between uncovered walkways and stopping at sheltered spots to take breaks and snap some photos and videos along the way. Most of the shots I captured are from an arcade and feature the buildings across the road.
Most of the buildings in the Maxwell area are well-preserved shophouses. However, there are also temples that hold cultural and spiritual significance for the local community. The two main temples in the area are the Buddha Tooth Relic Temple and the Sri Mariamman Temple.
It’s little walks like these that remind me how much beauty there is in the everyday. Whether it's quiet streets, temple lights, or unexpected TikTok wins—there’s always something worth capturing. Thanks for tagging along, and I hope these snapshots give you a glimpse of the charm I stumbled upon that night.
