He's 15 years old, nearly 6 feet tall, smart, focused, entitled and manipulating as can be! He's great, most of the time...he has me completely wrapped around his finger. He knows I want to give him everything and that telling him no is really difficult for me, so if he wants something, he has no qualms about asking for it.
When he was little and people told me to cherish every moment because time would fly, I had no idea how right they were.
I mean just look at that face, how could a mother not be completely smitten? I swear, we really don't know what true love is until we've had a child. There's nothing that compares.
But no matter how much we love them, how much we want to protect them from the world, keep them from making the same mistakes we did..
As Kahlil Gibran says,
"You may give them your love but not your thoughts.
For they have their own thoughts.
You may house their bodies but not their souls,
For their souls dwell in the house of tomorrow,
which you cannot visit, not even in your dreams.
You may strive to be like them, but seek not to make them like you.
For life goes not backward nor tarries with yesterday."
These memories I have of him, where I was his whole world...and now he's looking toward his future and how he'll pave his own way forward. He's not so little anymore...
He's really growing up.
His long curls cut short...

He has a girlfriend...
I could not be more proud of the person he's becoming and I would not trade a single moment of it. I look forward to being witness to all the things he accomplishes in life but for the next few years that he's here in my home and for as long as he needs me, I will give him everything I can, I will provide him with every resource available to become the best version of himself that he can be.
