Certain places hold the best of us. This community is one of them. It was here that I found the right place to share part of my vast collection of analog photographs. Thanks to @victorbz warm hospitality, who helped me take my first steps at HIVE.
Although he’s been a bit absent from here lately, I’ve stayed in touch with him and followed the work he produces. He’s a true free-spirited photographer with remarkable work. A week ago, I sent him a message confessing that I missed posting in this community. So here I am, satisfying that longing after a 16-month absence.
Unfortunately, HIVE isn’t keeping up with the revival trend in analog aesthetics. Platforms like Reddit, for example—the R/AnalogCommunity subreddit has 247K visitors and 9.2K contributions per week. Six subreddits are constantly showcasing analog photography and everything related to it: cameras, technical gear, film, darkroom chemicals, and scanning.
Analog photography requires an initial investment—purchasing film, development, and scanning—and this may be driving the photography community away from HIVE.
A Symbol of Portuguese Identity: “Padrão dos Descobrimentos”
An imposing monument, 56 meters tall, featuring a stylized caravel setting sail, with Prince Henry the Navigator [1394–1460] and some of the key figures of Portugal’s maritime expansion standing at the bow.
Navigators, cartographers, warriors, evangelists, chroniclers, and artists are depicted alongside the symbols that define them. It represents courage, navigation, and Portugal’s historical connection to the sea.
Formally, I will maintain the same presentation style: framed photographs and “PHOTOS WITHOUT FRAMES.” See the end of the post.
