So I was looking through the world of Crypto Currencies on Coinmarketcap just a couple of weeks ago and that's when I found Steemit.
At first I wasn't sure what this platform was all about and what it's purpose was. The first thought that came into my mind was that this platform was just trying to cash on the growing popularity of cryptocurencies and creating coins out of thin air to fill the coffers of it's creators. But boy was I wrong, I regret letting the thought pass through my mind.
Now I'll tell you how I shrugged off that initial thought and why I now think that ideas like Steemit only come once in a lifetime. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity that has already changed the life of a lot of people and will change the lives of so many more, both emotionally and financially. Youtube had it's day 10 years ago and I think it's Steemit's time now. I will even go so far as to say that Steemit will be the norm for social networks in the years and decades to come. So Today is my day of Enlightenment!
So after my initial thought I started to dig deep into this awesome platform, and found that it actually has been built in a way that wants people to dig deep into it to explore it's unique features. Initially my reaction was to post things that were basically crypto currency related, which I was finding on other tech sites. Then I thought about posting just something that's funny. But I was disappointed to find that those posts were not even gathering any upvotes, let alone any potential payout.
That actually challenged me to investigate why there were some people out there whose posts were attracting hundreds of upvotes and big potential payouts. What I found was that those posts were mostly by people with high reputation and that they had actually taken the time to make their posts really simple, easy to understand and well laid out. Those posts definitely were not written in a hurry, like I was doing in my first 2 days on Steemit.
I then dug even deeper and found things like Whales and their influence on this platform. I learnt about Witnesses and curators who're keeping the platform working seemlessly. I also determined that instead of focusing on just posting anything and everything, I need to think it over before I post anything on this great platform instead of just spamming it with junk.
So from today, here's my plan of action on Steemit and If may add, I think it'll be ideal for any newbie to follow so that they have a successful life on this great platform.
Try to follow people with high reputation and read through their posts thoroughly.
Spend time learning about the new features and ask questions through comments on good posts.
Make sure I post good content and that it should include unique photos and animation.
Focus on Quality over Quantity, so post less but post quality content.
Be active on the platform, in other words devote time, comment and upvote on posts that I think are amazing.
And lastly as Papa Pepper (@papa-pepper) says, if I may tag him here -"Don’t waste your time online, invest it with steemit.com".
I'm spending all of my spare time on Steemit these days and I think I'm hooked now. And you'll find you too are hooked to it once you dig deep into it's unique features.
I'd appreciate if any of you want to add anything which will make my life better here.
And Finally "Keep Calm & Steem On".
