Being a creative sometime can be one of the most depressing things to happen to someone. We subject ourselves to a lot of pressure to come out with best results as possible. We get so happy and feel satisfied when it goes as planned. How about when it does? Trust me you don’t want to image that feeling. Especially when the fault isn’t from you. I am sure every photographer or creative has experienced those days nothing just wants to work out feel or seem to go as planned.
Well, this shoot happened to be like that. We planned this shoot for quite some days, we had a mood board, got to the location, but all we planned didn’t just work out. First mood killer, my trigger refused to pop my flash. It was a cloudy day, so I had less of the natural light to work with. Deep inside, I and the model did not want to waste the day. We tried everything possible to get on with the mood board we had but it was not come up as flattering and eye catching as we wanted, I was not satisfied with the images I had.
Finally we decided to ditch the mood board and go one with what we had on the location, we experimented with a whole and nothing click. And out way walking out of the park I saw this old chair and I said to myself, ‘’this should be it”. Couple of shots to nail my exposure, I was getting the vibe again. My model, already frustrated, seeing the test shots got back her mood.
We took a few shots from here and another spot close by and we wrapped it for the day cause the weather got bad drastically.
As creative, we need to learn how to embrace those days it feels like nothing is working, learn to create solutions outside the box, I bet the results will amaze you.
