Wearing braces is such a simple thing but very complicated at the same time. You can find everywhere information and tips about this subject but you’ll never know the truth until you’ll wear those wires.

Firstly, nobody tells you what to do before getting braces. Well, is very simple. EAT! Everything you can, everything you want. Eat apples, popcorn, nuts, the crust of bread, pretzels and chew gum!

If you have your appointment in a week, well, that’s the biggest cheat week! Every day you have to eat a burger, bite it and don’t be worried if all the ketchup and all the mayo it’s on your hands or clothes. Don’t forget about chips, alright? As crunchy as possible. Eat chicken tights and wings. Don’t use any cluttery! For desert take a crispy cake, chocolate and a lot of ice cream.

On the appointment day, at the orthodontist door, drop your chewing gum, say bye and go inside! Never ever in your life, a dentist appointment was easier than getting braces. Everything takes about an hour and if you’re a little bit tired, it is possible to fall asleep. You feel no pain, nothing hurts and the technician explains whatever she does there but, of course, you’ll understand nothing.

Everything good and nice until you’ll see yourself in the mirror and guess what? You’ll start laughing. Why? Because you will have the feeling that you can’t cover your teeth with your lips, it's like you don’t have enough lip to cover all the things from your mouth but is just a feeling because, actually, everything is… normal.

Nobody will see it, especially if you have ceramic or safir braces (yeah, you reach people!).
The problems will start the next day. You'll feel some pressure, some kind of pain but you can handle it. Every day another tooth will hurt. You can take some pain killers but I don’t recommend, you’ll see later why (muahahahaha).

You can talk normal, this will not be a problem but you’ll have to eat soups and mashed potatoes or mashed vegetables.
All bad things go to good ones… you’ll be skinnier, beautiful and, as my orthodontist says, with a Hollywood smile!
