INTRODUCTION
It broke me to a resounding sleep one Saturday morning, on November 25, 2023, when ate Melot, our purok leader trumpeted a clean-up drive in our village, or sityo, in Cebuano Binisaya.
In her announcement, she stirred up everyone's consciousness about the importance of cleanliness and its core significance for health and safety. Health, since dengue outbreak has devastated the barangays of Mandaue. And safety, when dispersed dumps are seen around with some wounding inflicting stuffs like rusty nails, etc., which are absolutely to get rid of.
Fast forward: I jumped out of bed and fixed myself up, ready with broom sticks in hand. I went out and headed towards the area for the clean-up operation.
