Hey guys! Have you ever gone to your favorite restaurant to order your favorite dish only to discover they changed it on you? Or even worse, took it off the menu? Frustrating, isn't it?

Now imagine you have a list of allergens about 30 items long. Imagine you're 7 yrs old and going to a birthday party means bringing your own homemade cupcake because Gluten-Free is just the tip of the iceberg.

Imagine it's summer and every kids' event under the sun features popsicles and yep, you guessed it! You have your own cooler with your special and safe frozen treat. Everyone else gets a choice of fun colors and flavors and you're stuck with whatever your mom packed.

That is life for my little Wildstyle. We often don't know what causes her flare-ups, but we do our best to keep her safe and still allow her to experience life in a normal way.

In fact, after being clear most of the winter, she woke up breaking out on her hands and face. The only new food yesterday was ROMAINE! Who the heck is allergic to lettuce?

If you ever run into me at a grocery store, please don't think me rude if I don't chit-chat much, I'm usually busy reading ingredient lists to see if there's anything new I can offer my daughter. She likes a bit of variety and with all those allergies, that's a challenge.

This video shares with you one particular time when a frozen treat company changed their ingredient list to include purple carrots for color. The popsicles were Pomegranate flavor. Have you ever eaten pomegranate seeds? They stain! They're so color-rich! There was no NEED to add purple carrot juice. I am so grateful that I happened to glance at the label as I was opening the box.

There are more and more options out there for gluten gree, soy-free, Vegan and peanut-free, but try to find items for all those issues combined and it gets complicated! So, do you deal with allergies in your family? Have you ever had the ingredient list of a trusted product change unexpectedly? What was your experience?

I chose @Crowbarmama as a handle because I believe in doing the best you can with what you have on hand. The crowbar is a multi-purpose tool. You’ll notice my photography is a bit rough, my grammar is not the most polished, but as a homeschooling, homesteading mama of 4, if I waited to take my photos until the light was perfect or re-edited my posts a 5th time ( I shoot for 3 drafts), I would never get a post out!

Don’t sweat the small stuff, just Crowbar it!
