Mi desayuno favorito en el primer trimestre de embarazo/ My favorite breakfast during the first trimester of pregnancy. [ESP/ENG]
ENGLISH
Hello, dear Hivers friends, greetings—I hope you’re all doing well. Have a great week, everyone; I wish you all the best in this last week of October.
I’m feeling very happy here, since I’m finally getting over the morning sickness of the first trimester of my pregnancy. It’s funny that before I got pregnant, I was being very careful about what I ate—avoiding refined flours and processed foods and including only natural foods in my diet.
During this process of my body creating and forming a life inside it, I’d been feeling really awful, but now that I’m coming out of this first trimester, it’s triggered the exact opposite of what’s natural—all I’ve wanted to eat has been authentic Venezuelan food: arepas, black beans, cachapas, empanadas, and lots of foods that were my favorites as a child.
As I’ve tried to enjoy this process, what’s really appealed to me—and what I’ve truly enjoyed—is this breakfast I’m showing you: black beans, an arepa, and cheese. I can’t explain how this makes me feel; I just know that for me, it’s a real treat. I hope to continue improving my diet throughout this journey and stay healthy.
Here in Venezuela, the breakfast that
Venezuelans eat most often is the arepa, since you can fill it with whatever side dish you want and it goes with everything. In this case, this filling is called “domino”—the white of the grated cheese and the black beans create a “criollo domino,” and for those of us who like it, wow, it’s a really delicious combination.
I With nothing more to say, I’ll sign off by thanking you for taking the time to read my post, support me, and stop by here. Let’s keep seeing and reading each other—a hug from afar.
I love Hive and Liketu <3
