Hello friends,
How are you all Hope everybody on this site also had a great day. Friends, today I will share with you some photography taken at the International Calcutta Book Fair and some of my experiences.
On 12th March 2022, my friends and I attended this book fair together. This book fair is held at Central Park Fair Ground. Calcutta Book Fair is the largest non-commercial book fair in the world. Unlike book fairs in London or other countries , the Calcutta Book Fair does not have contracts or trade in book publishing , distribution and translation. Only publishers and booksellers participate in this book fair for the purpose of promoting and selling their published or distributed books to the general public.
The fair occupies a prominent place in the cultural history of Kolkata. At present this book fair is called as 'Fourteenth Festival of Bengalis'. The book fair held in 2022 was the 45th book fair.
I went there with my friends in the afternoon. I thought there might be a little less people because of Corona, but I was surprised to see that there was a lot of crowd here like every time.
The 13th was the last day of the book fair and we went on the 12th, maybe that's why the crowd was so big. Everyone came to visit once before it was over. Honestly, I didn't go to buy books that day. I didn't usually buy books online. I went that day just to see what kind of books came to the book fair. All in all, there were about a thousand book stalls. I did not see all of them as much as I could. I saw a collection of books in English, Urdu, Arabic, Sanskrit and different languages besides Bengali. He was exhibiting books published in his own country.
Different programs were going on in different places. Somewhere there was a Baul song festival, somewhere there was band music. People were standing with placards, banners and various awareness posts and people were making people aware of different issues. There were lots of food stalls. We used to go to as many book stalls as possible and enjoy different music programs....
Thousands of people descended in front of the Bangladesh pavilion. There were many Bangladeshi book stalls in the pavilion. Of the thousands of book stalls at the book fair, Bangladesh Pavilion was the most eye-catching.
A copy of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman's historic speech on March 7 has been displayed outside the Bangladesh Pavilion.
