Greetings to all the friends in the #wednesdaywalk community, and a special shout out to @tattoodjay.
Today, I am here to tell a story through my images about the recently concluded 34th International Book Fair, which takes place every year in my city.
This is an event that, several years ago, was a true festival where thousands of people including those from the most distant places came to buy books by renowned writers.
Over time, this has changed; economic hardships, shortages, and other issues not worth mentioning have transformed an iconic cultural moment into something commonplace and natural.
From the early days when hundreds of kiosks offered books on every conceivable subject, today only a few remain featuring such dull topics that no one is interested in reading them.
As for the prices well, many people cannot afford to buy a book on their wages; it may seem absurd or unbelievable, but the price of many books is three times a worker's salary.
Even so, many people roam the town's streets, enjoying the festive atmosphere and the fair itself is packed with traditional cultural activities that bring joy and a unique touch to the city during those days.
I was only able to go for a walk on a single day, which I took the opportunity to use for taking some photos to share with you. That is something I really enjoy more than reading or writing long stories, photography is my hobby, and whenever I can, I head out for a walk with my camera in hand.
Along with my brief account, I’ve shared photos from that walk showing people browsing the books, chatting, and perhaps buying something to read. I hope you enjoy my post; if so, I’ll be back with new stories about my city and the events or places I visit. Best regards to everyone, and until next time.
