I feel the same way! There is a theory that suggest that in the far future tech will be so advanced that a physical body might not even be needed. You can travel as a form of pure energy. If the AI will get there before us... It is a strong possibility of that happening. We are far from understanding our own brain and using it at high capacity.... If AI levels up... Who would want to sit and control ants when there is an entire cosmos to explore? I have read such a fascinating book about this, Michio Kaku, The future of the human mind.
We have potential. But we are yet so limited. I would love to live long enough to see actual evolution. Now we confuse being able to tap a screen with fingers with personal growth. Somehow I feel we are getting further and further away from our potential. People become lazy. Self absorbed. Easily distracted by "information". Procreate, consume, repeat. Something in between, of a more spiritual awakening, is missing. We look around, we see humans. How many of them though think about more than mundane things? We can't pretend a society of philosophers. But is this rythm of now trully beneficial? I have doubts. I see potential, but many of it is wasted. Absorbed. Consumed.
