If I say that this year has been tough, many would approve me without a doubt. A lot of people would rather throw the whole year away, looking at it as being a big failure. 2020 exceeded expectations for some and disappointed many others. We can look at it and complain, but what have we learned? Could this year with a pungent smell of disaster actually be a giant master, trying to teach us something?
Financial hardship, unemployment, school issues, mental issues. Everywhere you go in the history ladder, there has always been a grim side of life. People die everywhere now as I write this article, but when the media coverage becomes focused on it, the smell of death infects you. The shield you have to have around your mind is tested. How long until the mass panic corrupts your spirit? How long until you see the short side of the stick and prepare for the worse?
In times of great depression there are valuable lessons we are being taught. Few enroll the class of gratitude in moments of public agony. Is 2020 really that bad? If someone close to you would have died or you would have lost your job or your house, you would say hell yes. But honestly... You still being alive while reading this is really not worth a penny? If you woke up today being mentally sane... Isn't this worth an ounce of "thank you"? 2020 has brough what we once watched in the cinema, splurging on butter popcorn: mass hysteria. Times have always been tough, abundance and scarcity are old concepts. 2020 hasn't brought chaos, it only boosted it a few levels so we could access a resource hidden deep down: resilience.
We live in the fast-everything era. At the push of a button we can have almost everything we want. We struggled to make it all easy so that life would go smoothly and as planned. We spritzed comfort perfume in the big cosmos thinking that we've made a difference. We didn't. There is a form of organized chaos in this Universe far beyond our understanding. History has shown that tough times have good sides too. 2020 and the years to come might not be how we've imagined, that's life. How we react to it is our true power, our incorporated app for survival. Maybe starting today, some might think about using it. We're all brought to life with a set of innate skills better than technology. 2020 might be the first year to show that we have it in us.
