Getting back to my art is always relaxing. I love when I take a break from black ink and dotting and I turn to color. When I prefer color, I love bright neon ones. I love the bright yellow, green, blue, turquoise. It's like tasting a new form of freedom when I put pencils in my hand.
When I started to draw this I was thinking about beauty. What's our idea of being beautiful? Is it only about the looks? If you say someone is beautiful, what do you mean?
I tried to depict a metaphor of our modern attempt to become what we think others want from us. Just like a butterfly, we are amazing just the way we are. But misconceptions and insecurity makes us trapped in the "let me look pretty" box.
Although our physical beauty will fade away, we try to keep it at high levels as much as we can, forgetting about spiritual beauty. Sometimes it's ok to stop wearing make-up, to dress up with what you have,to stop putting beautify filters to everything and just BE YOURSELF. I think we have more to gain when we reveal to the right people what we are, not what we think they want to see from us.
I will grow old and wrinkly, but age won't take away the beauty that I hold in my personality and in my character. Our bright colorful beauty is within ourselves, not in fancy accessories.Beauty is not an abstract pedestal for us to climb everyday. Beauty is more like a garden of our soul, the work we have to put in is invisible to others if we are to work for the right kind of beauty.
Have a beautiful day and toodle loo!
P. S. It rained today when I got out, I slowed down my pace just to hear the drops smashing on my umbrella and to smell the wet dusty air. Incredible how a little rain activates your senses☔😍
