Hello there, Steemit! It's been a couple of months since last I blogged, and it was beginning to become a vicious, non-posting cycle. So I thought I would make a simple comeback, with some bird photos I took over the past few days.
Here is a Rufus Hummingbird who likes to pay me visits under my pine tree.
I love that flash of bright red on the throat!
The light has to strike the feathers just right, or it doesn't appear.
This little bird hovers just long enough to snap tiny flying insects before resting on a twig. These tiny hummers migrate about 2000 miles per year! They have earned a rest.
On Memorial Day, we visited Jenks Lake. Although Matt only caught a baby bass which he tossed back, the holiday was made memorable by the appearance of our National Bird:
The regal Bald Eagle did a few swoops over the freshly stocked lake before posing for us in a tall pine tree.
As Matt plied his rod and reel, I relaxed in a shady nook, and tossed some tortilla chips at the Blackbirds and Stellar Jays. This one was bold enough to make a grab:
Thanks so much for helping me catch back up on my participation here. It's been a challenging time with loved ones spending time in hospitals and stuff.
Sending you all my best!
Love,cat
