An unprecedented survey by the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE) published today shows that 9.5 million Brazilians work remotely, at least once a month.
Of course, the pandemic accelerated this trend, but some professions were already heading this way long before the global health collapse.
The survey data were obtained from the National Household Sample Survey (PNAD) and reveal that the change in labor relations is taking place in the direction of flexible working hours and worker presence in the sector.
First we need to understand that the type of work we are talking about is that carried out in an alternative location, which could be the worker's own home or another location, such as a cowork space, a café, or by the beach. After all, the location is not the center of the issue, as the tasks carried out by this worker do not depend on him.
This type of work is called remote work.
When in addition to the different location we also have the use of mediation technologies to carry out the work, then we arrive at the telework subcategory.
According to the survey, around 8.7% of employed women worked in this modality in 2022, compared to just 6.8% of men. In addition to gender, it was also possible to notice a discrepancy in terms of color, when white people (11.2%) far outnumber black people (5.2%) and brown people (4.8%).
Looking at the level of education, the vast majority of teleworkers had completed higher education (70%). Consider engineers, lawyers, teachers, and forget about professionals in the Information Technology (IT) area, who already have a tendency towards this form of work due to the characteristics of their profession.
With these data we can infer that the profile of Brazilian teleworkers is: female, white, graduated with higher education, working as a professional in the intellectual sciences.
The average salary of the Brazilian population in 2022 was BRL 2714 / USD 542. However, the survey data shows that among those who teleworked at least one day in the month, the average value was BRL 6479 / USD 1295, more than two times greater.
The minimum wage in Brazil is BRL 1320 / USD 264.

Remember that teleworking has been carried out in a high professional qualification profile, while the less qualified workforce is unable to join remote work as their jobs are in non-intellectual operations, where the presence of the worker It is essential in the location determined by the company.
Finally, it was still possible to identify that 94.8% of teleworkers worked from home!

É claro que a pandemia acelerou essa tendência, porém alguns profissões já acenavam por este caminho muito antes do colapso de saúde global.
Os dados da pesquisa foram obtidos na Pesquisa Nacional por Amostra de Domicílios (PNAD) e revelam que a mudança nas relações de trabalho está se concretizando na direção da flexibilidade de horários e da presença do trabalhador no setor.
Primeiro precisamos entender que o tipo de trabalho que estamos falando é aquele realizado em um local alternativo, que pode ser o próprio domicílio do trabalhador ou outro local, como um espaço cowork, uma cafeteria, ou a beira da praia. Afinal o local não é o centro da questão, pois as tarefas desenvolvidas por este trabalhador não dependem dele.
Este tipo de trabalho recebe a nomenclatura de trabalho remoto.
Quando além do local diverso também temos o uso de tecnologias de mediação para realização do trabalho, então chegamos na subcategoria teletrabalho.
Segundo a pesquisa, cerca de 8.7% das mulheres empregadas trabalharam nessa modalidade em 2022, contra apenas 6.8% dos homens. Além do sexo, também foi possível perceber discrepância no quesito cor, quandopessoas brancas (11.2%) superam em muito as pretas (5.2%) e pardas (4.8%).
Já olhando para o nível de instrução, a ampla maioria dos teletrabalhadores possuiam ensino superior completo (70%). Considere engenheiros, advogados, professores, e esqueça um pouco dos profissionais da área de Tecnologia de Informação (TI), que já tem tendência a essa forma de trabalho devido às características da sua profissão.
Com esses dados podemos inferir que o perfil do teletrabalhador brasileiro é: mulher, branca, formada com ensino superior, atuando como profissional das ciências intelectuais.
O salário médio da população brasileira em 2022 foi de BRL 2714 / USD 542. Contudo, os dados da pesquisa apontam que entre aqueles que realizaram ao menos um dia de teletrabalho no mês o valor médio foi de BRL 6479 / USD 1295, mais de duas vezes maior.
O salário mínimo no Brasil é de BRL 1320 / USD 264.

Lembre-se que o teletrabalho tem sido realizado num perfil de alta qualificação profissional, enquanto a mão-de-obra menos qualificada não consegue aderir ao trabalho remoto pois seus postos de trabalho são de operações não-intelectuais, onde a presença do trabalhador é imprescindível no local determinado pela empresa.
