Colorchallenge Monday Red: Cactus and Cobweb

Here is today's entry for the popular #colorchallenge photo challenge, originally started by kalemandra@kalemandra, and now one of the most popular group participation events in the Steem community. It's also a great way for newcomers to "post something" and get started here, if you feel uncertain about how to do things.

Today's theme is "Monday Red;" red is also the color associated with the Root Chakra.

People often think of deserts as desolate and devoid of life, but they are far from that. This red cactus blossom — draped in cobwebs — suddenly showed up on my path during a hike in Joshua Tree National Park in California.

Got me wondering what the early visitors might have tried to explain to people back home about the desert life, IF they even owned a camera:

Imagine trying to convey the intensity of that red flower through a late 1800's photograph that might have looked like the above!
