I was just too good at giving people tasks in my workplace as the head. Since the very day I was placed as the head of a school, I have become so weird and someone who does not want to look at people's feelings.
I remember when I was still working under someone; he always treated us nicely, and sporadically he overlooked some things he was supposed to take so seriously. I picked up from what I called a mistake to fine-tune my world.
One day, I called my workers and told them their salary may either be delayed or not given until they did what they were supposed to do. If they failed to take heed of my words. I became just like a terror according to my workers. They were seeing me just as a changed fellow. Truly, I was changed from the very person I was to something else, thinking I was doing that to please the owners of the organization. I was just like those workers, but when my boss left, I became the new boss. The office was open to anyone, so I was the next in line, being the oldest.
The last thing I did wrongly was disgrace the one next to me. He failed to come to work just because of some health issues. He tried to explain, but I was not ready to listen to him. Likewise, he even went to the extent of kneeling just not to get short-paid. After some minutes, I wrote a note to the management and complained seriously about him. After going through the notes, they deducted a tangible amount from his salary. He was happy, but then he was pained as we both resumed the organization the same day. Since I'm his boss, he has to respect me, but then he felt so bad.
One day, with annoyance, he decided to write a resignation letter. His look was just as bad as something else. He submitted his letter, and without time-wasting, I sent it to the management. They reviewed it and told him to stay for a month, as it is in the rules of the organization that anyone who wants to leave must give a month's notice. I told him, and he was so angry and left, leaving his pension behind.
After staying for one year, a friend asked me to drop my CV at a reputable company. I could not wait to accept it. The next week, I printed my CV out and left for the company. I submitted my CV, after which I was asked to come for an interview the next day. Being the head of my work, I did not get any permission before going. I left for the interview. When I got to the interview hall, a young man who was conducting the interview bowed his head down, trying to write the names of those present. As he was writing it, he was comparing the names with those around him. It got to a point where he kept silent without saying a word. I tried to gaze at him and was surprised by what I saw.
I guessed when he saw my name. I raised his head and was somehow looking towards where we were seated. Not only that, but I saw him, and I immediately felt ashamed of myself. As he was attempting to catch up with me, I bowed my head. Then, he called my name, “Who is Julius in the hall?” I was not ready to answer, but out of shame, I answered.
I saw the way he looked at me. It was so weird and scary. I knew I was not going to be given the job. He called others out as I was called to a separate seat. While I was sitting, I was melting without knowing what to do. I felt so ashamed of myself as I was tasting my medicine. He carried out interviews for others, ignoring me. After some hours, he came to me, but then I could not look at his face. He said, “You will not have the interview.” With his statement, I knew I was not going to be given the job.
He said, “I have listed your name among those who will be given the job.” I looked at him without knowing what to say. I was not ready to look at his face.
I called him and asked him, “Why didn't you send me back or throw my CV in my face?”
“You were, and I still acknowledge you as my boss.” I felt so bad after hearing those words from him. I hugged him and thanked him for the role he played and for not looking at what I had done to him.
This gave me a reason to rethink never doing bad to people, as karma is always there to have its way.
