When my Mister and I first started looking at Steem Hive as a way to earn cryptocurrency, the drawcard for being on here had nothing to do with the reason I have come to love this platform.
Sure, earning crypto for creating and curating helps me justify the time, attention and energy I spend on here but I'm not that motivated by money. So earning for creating and/or curating is not enough to keep me coming back.
What keeps me coming back is the people.
While my partner is genuinely motivated to earn currency in any useful form, I am motivated to create and maintain genuine relationships with people. And we both love learning, so Hive gives us both ample opportunity to do that, though what we choose to learn is quite different.
When I think about putting people and learning together, what I get from Hive that I don't easily get anywhere else is the opportunity to grow as a person through having direct relationships with people from different cultures than me.
While I'll happily read the occasional thing from my fellow Aussie (Australian) and find it easy to connect with and understand the Brits (people from Britain/UK) and the Yanks (people from the U.S.A.) what I adore is having the opportunity to be friends with women and men in countries like Ghana, Nigeria, Pakistan, the Philippines, Romania, Venezuela, and many other countries I've never been to.
I learn so much from these Hivers. I learn about myself and life from totally different perspectives and I'm so, so, so grateful for that.
So the best thing about Hive is that it is making me a better person. Truly. Because by reading posts from and interacting with people who I have been taught are so different to me, I discover that deep down, we are more alike than we realise.
If you're a woman (whether you consider yourself a "lady" or not) you might like to join in with one of the weekly prompts. Each weekend a new post is written by @ladiesofhive (you can follow/favourite if that's helpful) and the moderator of the week will share two prompts for you to pick from. This week I was answering the question by saffisara:
What is the best about Hive?
