I love whiskey. Love it so much I don't drink no more. Still it's the unofficial state drink of Kentucky. The official state drink is milk (what do you expect in a state that's also home to a Noah's Ark theme park?) but nobody is coming here to visit a milk trail.
Now the Bourbon Trail, that's a different story. Last week I was on a bit of a staycation and we paid a visit to the Frazier Museum one afternoon. It used to be an arms museum but changes were made in fifteen years since I'd last visited it and now it's the official starting point of the Kentucky Bourbon Trail.
All these photos are from the Bottle Hall at the end of the 'Spirit of Kentucky' exhibit. There's over 500 bottles of booze in there, covering every kind of bourbon currently in production here in Kentucky.
At first glance I thought it would be a bunch of fancy bourbon but as I looked and shot I discovered a bunch of old favorites from my college house party days. Kentucky Gentleman, Very Old Barton, Early Times and the like may have been a bit lacking in quality compared to some of the other whiskeys on the shelves but they sure made up for it with quantity.
Back in college I was so fond of bourbon that I wrote a research paper on it. I swear it wasn't an excuse to try more bourbon... Since I don't do shots of bourbon anymore I had to make up for it by taking shots of bourbon. Luckily I had my wide angle lens with me or else this would have probably turned out as well as some of my bourbon fueled escapades.
