The weather has taken a turn for the cooler side lately here in Kentucky, it is really starting to feel like fall around here. This morning it was a chilly 37 degrees ( that's about 3 degrees for you celsius folks) and the leaves have started to change and fall from the trees. I don't like it! The fall colors are always pretty around here but I have a distinct preference for warmer weather and it just reminds me that another cold, dreary winter is getting near.
I'm trying to pretend that it's still summer, that's why I'm posting this shot from back in July. I'd taken a break from the protests downtown to go wander in Jefferson Memorial Forest and for all the July heat it was a rather nice hike. Once you got under the canopy the temperature dropped a good 10-15 degrees and there was lots of fun flora and fauna to take photos of, like this critter.
This lake, Mitchell Hill Lake, was at the end of the trail we hiked and what better way to take it easy on a summer day than beside a lake like this. I'm going to have to pay it a visit in the next few days, the fall colors are about the only way it could be improved.
So what is y'alls favorite time of year to be out and about and enjoying the weather or taking photos?
