Got to play around with making AI art for the first time today. Thanks derangedvisions@derangedvisions! Midjourney lets you make a few images for free so I had to give it a try.

You use discord to give prompts to a bot and it spits out the result (a grid of 4) a minute or two later. Since I had no clue what I was doing I decided to keep it simple to start off with.

/imagine Santa Claus riding nuclear missile chased by ufos, psychedelic, dark

As you can see from the group of four above, the results can be interesting.

Hit a button and more shit happened. Beginning to see some potential here for the surrealist Christmas card market.

This is where it got weird. Decided to give it a proper test and fed it a fairly random set of inputs. I'm definitely sending these out for Christmas this year.

More buttons! So apparently some of the buttons give you a new set of 4 based on one of the original 4. I hadn't intended to do that with this particular one and still ain't quite sure what the fuck is going on here.

Went back and made variations of the one I'd intended. Is that Santa with a molotov cocktail? The other buttons let you 'upscale' whatever the hell that is. Gives you a larger, more defined version of a single one of the four images. First image in this post is an upscale of the one in the upper right corner above.

This was turning out to be more fun than messing with people's home wiretaps Google Home/Alexa.

Had to give Santa a break so I doubled down on the apocalyptic Christmas vibe.

Or tried to at least, sometimes it was just apocalyptic.

The free trial didn't last long once I got to messing with things, pretty sure I'm going to give in and pay the $10 USD for the basic subscription here soon.

Until then, who needs Christmas cards?
