Equally as impressive as animals is the variety of birds. I don´t know much about them except that they are the last real dinosaurs (Pretty cool I think) and that some of them are stunningly beautiful...
This last one was taken in Botswana. Just missing out on the migration of the southern carmine bee-eater was a bummer, but seing a couple of them close up was amazing.
This next one was probably one of the more intense encounters with "birds". Vulture are not the typical bird to me. The jungle book really messed them up for me. Scavangers through and through, seing them pick away at an elephant carcasse was not only a smelly affair due to the decomposition. Putting their beeks and head into every orifice they could find was trutly something else. I stayed with them for a couple of hours.
As in real life, there was the king of the carcasse who would dominate the eating procedere. Or that´s what me - the hobby ornothologist - made of his behaviour.
Another one of my favorites are birds in city. Especially in numbers. I don´t know what they are but these ones were flying in the thousands above Florence in Italy. Amazing watching them fly in motion. So dynamic. Almost like a rehearsed giant choreography in the sky. Yet nobody was watching :))
If you like what you see, please upsteem and/ or leave a comment. I am grateful for both :)
