Teachers forget when they are talking to each other that there are little ears listening to what you are saying even if it is two teachers who think they are only talking to each other.
Those conversations you are having with another teacher can be misunderstood by a child you didn't think was listening. It can also upset a student. Children can hear things and not get the full meaning of what you are talking about.
One of our teachers dad passed away this weekend. Two teachers in the classroom were talking about it at naptime. Some of the children heard the conversation and thought their teacher had died. This upset the children and they started cring about their teacher dying.
First off this a conversation that should never of happened in the classroom. It should of taken place in the breakroom away from children. It was very upsetting to the children who heard the conversation and misunderstood what was being said.
Secondly you should never be talking about other people in your classroom. We are there to educate the children and not gossip or talk about our person lives where children can and will hear us.
