The world is currently operating on new technology and things seem to be moving at a pace no one thought would ever be possible or at the very least not this fast. If someone had told me that I'd live to see an era where a machine can can handle almost any tasks given it, posses the ability to think by itself and do almost everything better than us humans in 2026 besides showing emotions, I would have called that person a liar but here we are today literally in a phase of existence where there's a tech that can even steal our jobs without trying..... Ladies and gentlemen, I give "Artificial Intelligence".
It is common knowledge that the primary objective of any invention is to make man's life easier and artificial intelligence was created for that particular purpose. Since Ai started buzzing around the world, people have not hesitated utilizing it for their own benefits. It can be used to search for a job, learn new things online, study and it can even serve as a companion in case you need someone to talk to. The potential of Ai is limitless and it has contributed towards pushing society forward. However just like every great tool, it also has its own shortcomings.

Let's put it this way, imagine waking up on a random Tuesday morning from a call telling you to go on TikTok because there's a video there that's definitely going to catch your attention. You login and the first thing you see is a video of yourself naked or just doing something you know that's just not you. Confusion sets in as you know that's definitely not you but the video is already trending so you have to figure out a way to convince people that it's not you but the handiwork of someone trying to ruin image and reputation. What's even crazy about this whole thing is that it is possible pulling such a sick joke does not even need more than a single picture for AI to help him or her carry out objectives. So who do we say deserves the blame for this mess, the technology used to slander an innocent person? Or the human who chose to use it for the wrong reasons?.
A lot of people are genuinely worried about what's happening around the world thanks to AI. It is becoming extremely difficult to even differentiate reality from fiction online even with videos. People are getting scammed, tricked, deceived and impersonated sometimes without a means to track down the culprits and worse of all they don't even need your permission to gain access to your personal stuff to use it for criminal activities. These damages are not made up and in most cases the harm caused does not just simply fade away because it originated from the Internet. Sometimes even if the victim is able to prove that he or she is not guilty of such offenses, the damage already caused does not just disappear as easily as they had happened. But can we really blame it for how it is used.
Now imagine the government finally chooses to use enforce strict regulations on AI and make it almost impossible for the ordinary people to have access to it, how will people be able to get tools that with image generation for good reasons. Just the other day my father showed me a picture of his own dad and was sad that the picture was messed up badly because that was the only one he had of him. I quickly took a picture of the photo, posted it on CHATGBT and just like that it brought out a very clearer version of my grandfather and I kid you not, I have not seen my old man that happy in a very long time. Just look at the joy AI brought my dad, this I believe is the true essence of artificial intelligence - bringing smiles to people's faces and helping everybody in its reach.
Do I believe that AI can be used for bad things? Yes. Should stricter regulations be put in place? No, unless it can be done in search a way where people who actually need it genuinely don't feel left out which I think is impossible. Whether strict regulations are put in place or not, there will always be people with means to cheat the system for their selfish needs. AI should not be limited because of how people use it because as a Tool it is bound to be exploited anyway. The best way to go about it is to just find a way to create a balance because whether we like it or not it is is here to stay and there's no use trying to push it under.
Thank you.
