Have you ever thought about what kind of freedom people want in the U.S.? We hear that word thrown around all the time, even though it isn't in the U.S. Constitution. In any sane society there is not complete freedom, there is always obligation and responsibility. All the great cultures teach that side of the equation. The U.S. emphasis on freedom is at heart a marketing and propaganda ploy, to always press the button of desire, consumption, and greed.
In the great movie Vertigo you hear men speak of power and freedom in conjunction. They are talking about being wanton, ruthless, and without moral anchor... a virtual Wild West. America is a country carved out via exploitation and appropriation from others, from nature, and has an ideology unbridled from tradition and wisdom. Beware the vacuous and all consuming nature of western domination under the guise of free choice. It is neither free for the usurper nor the vanquished. The moral price always is paid in the end.
