Greetings!
The saying that experience is the best teacher is not just a saying, it's the fact about life. A life without experience to me does not exist in this life and this is because it's the experiences of life that made us who we are or who we are to become in life. It's the past events of our lives that will determine what our moral standing would like.
Having said this, I would like to delve into the topic of the prompt in the Hive learners community which is all about, “moral threshold.”
Well, one thing that I have got to know in this life is that there's something called individual differences which make it for every human to look alike both in their look and in character, no human can look alike as a result of their individual differences. Even the so-called identical twins can never look alike in their character, this is just the fact about life.
So, if people would look alike in the physical and in character, so also their moral standing would not also look alike. To some, their moral standing might be as a result of their upbringing, while to some, their moral standing might be in their religious belief, all these are normal as we are not the same.
However, my own moral standing does not in any way relate to my upbringing or religious belief or culture, as for me, my moral standard stems from the experiences life has given me. It's the experiences of life that has made me see how life is not my upbringing or cultural or religious beliefs.
Although, before now, my upbringing has given me its own definition of freedom so also my cultural and religious beliefs, but when life began to happen and deal with me, the experiences of life gave me another definition of life and freedom and since experience is the best teacher, I quickly gave in to the definition of freedom as given to me by experience which is all about, no true freedom in life.
What do I mean by this? One thing my upbringing as a child taught me about freedom is that it's free and total. Even my religious belief taught me that there would be total freedom for me if I believe in the doctrines of my religion so also my cultural belief as well, but this is not so with the lessons of life as taught me by experience which made me understand that freedom is not the actually definition given to me by culture, religion and my upbringing.
Also, the life experiences has helped me to know that, just because everything isn't a crime doesn't make it a crime and this is because, there's things that are even worse than crime, something cheating and all other related stuffs to be is even more than a crime to me as this can kill those that are being cheated in one way or the other. This is what experience has taught me.
In conclusion, one thing that has given me my moral standing in life is my life experience.
This is my entry to week 226, episode 03 of the weekly featured contest in the Hive learners community.
